Seems I've been overlooking this series with Amélie. The goal with the mirror was to capture this "image within an image" on film in a single exposure.
The challenge, especially with this scene, was to balance the lighting of the background, mirror, and model just right using three flashes and a flash meter. I didn't have a DSLR yet, so there were no previews available.
Since adjusting each light had an effect on the whole scene, it was a lot like tuning a guitar.
Photographed on location with Fuji Reala colour negative film (iso100) with studio flashes.
